23 October 2018 - UNIDO holds Closure Ceremony event of the “Industrial Energy Efficiency Program in Iran”

UNIDO holds the Closure Ceremony event of “Industrial Energy Efficiency Program in Iran” for Petrochemical, Oil refinery, Cement, Iron and steel and brick industries on 24 October 2018.

The Energy Efficiency in Key Industrial Sectors program is financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in association with the Iranian Fuel Conservation Company (IFCO) as national executing partner, from 2012 to 2018.

“Implementing IEE Program in Iran is a part of UNIDO mandate, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Climate Change and Sustainable Industrial Development.”  UNIDO Iran Representative, Dr. Maryam Javan Shahraki stated.

Based on reports of International Energy Agency (IEA), energy efficiency market is the most important “Common Fuel” Javan Shahraki added “and in the closure ceremony event best practices of IEE Program would be shared with Iranian industries to benefit the country more from this “Hidden Fuel”.  She said.

 “Implementation of this program has so far resulted 105 million cubic meters of natural gas saving, in the energy industries of the country” Nasim SHEKARI the IEE national coordinator of the UNIDO said and continued: "This event will provide an opportunity to establish a network between the major industries of the country and other national and international stakeholders, in order to work more effectively and expand activities at the national, regional and international levels in the field of energy efficiency.”

This event will host more than 300 participants, including industries, partner countries, policymakers, as well as international embassies and international organizations in the fields of energy and environment.
