TEHRAN - Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) held a seminar on “review of legal aspects of humanitarian assistance from the view of Interntional law and how governments as well as international organizations cooperate with Iran for helping recent flood victims” with participation of intellectuals and journalists on at the IHRC on 17 April 2019.
The seminar opened with Secretary of Islamic Human Rights Commission, Dr. Hassan Ziaeefar’s remarks.
In addition to UNIC Director Dr. Maria Dotsenko who elaborated on UN’s support to the Government-led efforts to assist people in flood affected areas, Head of Refugee Affairs and Natural Disasters Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Hamedani; Head of Rules and Regulations Department of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Dr. Jabbar Aslani; Tehran University professor, Dr. Nasrin Mossafa; Dean of Faculty of Law of Shahid Beheshti University, Dr. Ebrahim Beigzadeh and Allameh Tabatabaee University professor, Dr. Pooriya Askari were the keynote speakers.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Dotsenko while condoling the families of the victims, the Government, and the people of Iran on recent floods in Iran said the UN supports the Government as well as the Iranian people and that is what “we have been doing right from the beginning of this disaster”.
“So far, we have contributed, over and above our existing and general resources, 1.4 million US Dollars in kind for the ongoing immediate flood response,” said adding that our response focuses on 6 priority sectors: Health, Shelter, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Education, Recovery and Food.
