Iranian Association for UN Studies (IAUNS) in cooperation with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) and some other partners held a seminar on the occasion of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Centenary on the World Day of Social Justice on 20 February at the House of Humanities Intellectuals with participation of some 80 distinguished scholar, university professors, researchers and students of different universities.
The theme of the seminar was the role of ILO in achieving the UN goals. In the inaguration session after the welcoming remarks of IAUNS Secretary-General Dr Puria Askari, the Vice President for Legal Affairs Dr Laya Joneydi delivered her speech, then the Chief of Labor and Social Security Institution Dr Mohammad Reza Sepehri had his speech.
After that the exclusive video message of the ILO's Deputy Director-General for Management & Reform Mr Greg Vines for the seminar was screened followed by the speech of UNIC Director Dr Maria Dotsenko delivered by UNIC Public Information Assistant Ms Nazanin Ghaemmaghami. Director of IAUNS Dr Nasrin Mosaffa delivered her remarks as the closing of the inauguration session. Twenty-two research papers in different panels were presented during the two-day seminar on 20 and 21 February 2019.
During the seminar the late University of Tehran professor Dr Seyed Ezzatollah Araghi was remembered and commemorated for his dedication to labour law and ILO.
